The Equal Futures Project International Women’s Day breakfast has become one of the largest corporate events of the year, and we have loved the support we have been shown by the Newcastle community. In 2020 we managed to run one of the very last big events before COVID so materially changed our lives.
With the management of COVID, current requirements and potential for sudden change we have looked hard at what to do for IWD 2021. It is very important for us to mark the day with our supporters to the extent that we can. However it is not viable to run our normal event, with its major fundraising focus.
Ticket numbers will be reduced compared to our normal event so it will be essential to get in early. We plan to hold a larger fundraising event – better late than never – for IWD later in the year to raise funds for our deserving charity partners. The Equal Futures Project are also planning events and awareness campaigns in 2021 to support equity and inclusion for Indigenous, LGBTQI+ and Disability communities, as we at the Equal Futures Project seek to understand more and do more as ALLIES.
